What to consider when choosing an EV charger?

  • Charger type and compatibility

The first step is to decide which type of charger you want - whether a slower (AC) charger or a fast charger (DC). A slow charger is well-suited for home users who don't need faster charging. Fast chargers are more convenient for use on the go.

  • Charging power

Check your electrical system's capacity and capability. Most home electric car chargers require at least 240 volts of power. If you have an older or weaker electrical system, an upgrade may be necessary.

  • Ease of installation

Consider where you want to install the charger. How easy is it to install the charger?

Most charging stations require installation for connection to a power source. There are chargers that do not require installation and only need a Schuko, CEE1, or CEE3 plug for connection.

  • Additional features

Some chargers offer extra features such as WiFi connectivity, app control, charging monitoring, etc. Consider which additional features you might need.
